The LIF envisages that the natural biodiversity and ecological integrity of the Leuser Ecosystem will be conserved for the benefit and enjoyment of all mankind. This will ensure that life-supporting ecological services such as clean water provision, flood mitigation, erosion control, and climate regulation will continue to support an enhanced quality of life for both local inhabitants and the wildlife that can continue to roam free.

The LIF strives to support the protection and conservation of the Leuser Ecosystem. The LIF promotes sustainable development solutions that both provide benefits to local communities and maintain the region natural biodiversity and original landscapes to the fullest extent. In areas where environmental degradation has occurred the LIF aims to curtail destructive activities and through land rehabilitation, restore the regions life-supporting ecological functions.
